What Is the Good Life and How Do We Find It? A Forum with Dr. Jonathan Pennington

The Center for Public Christianity hosted Dr. Jonathan Pennington for a Forum entitled, “What Is the Good Life and How Do We Find It? Christianity’s Surprising Answer.” It took place on February 11, 2021 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church with both live and online audiences. After Dr. Pennington’s talk, Center director Dr. Joshua Chatraw moderated a time of Q&A with live and virtual audience members.

Dr. Pennington’s talk examines how throughout his ministry and particularly in his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), Jesus presented himself as a rabbi-philosopher in dialogue with the great philosophical traditions of the ancient world. He sought to address the great questions of life, including what the good life is, what happiness is, and what the meaning of life is. And what Jesus said is surprising in its profundity, as well as its realism.
